Absent: Richard, Andrew, Sam R
Last Week:
- coffee machine is now back in the lunch hall - has been fixed. This appears to have been done without us even nedding to ask.
- meeting with HM yesterday - nothing particularly interesting came up, apart from the parking spaces situation - this issue's is door is now being closed.
- atrium booking situation - confirmed to be able to be booked. Staff will need to be e-mailed about the booking on a Friday.
This Week:
- The prospect of having more bean bags in the library was dsicussed. If we could get more, it would be very nice. Action: Timmy G to speak to librarians.
- Food note - cheese has been moved to the salad bar, which itself can be very congested, but apparently it has been moved back, so everything's fine.
- Portion control - the question of whether self-service should be done away with was discussed. There is only a fixed number of catering staff, so perhaps self-service with restraint is a good thing. Apparently, tuna cannot be eaten with hot food, not even pasta. George Speak to speak to Dawn.
- The tuck shop was discussed, and how extending the opening hours during lunch time would be a good thing. This was discussed last year, and there will be too many people about to go to lessons in the queue. A compromise was therefore offered, open until 2:10pm. This issue will be observed over the next few weeks, but it is unlikely that things may change. The tuck shop doesn't do the baguette / roll sandwiches that it used to do - this will be discussed in the near future.
- School computers issues now, and apparently we can't lock them anymore. This is because there were too many people locking them and going away for a prolonged period of time. It was decided that actually, one should just log off and then come back later if one wants to leave the computer, or if only for a short time, ask the person sitting adjacent to keep watch pver the computer.
- The Prefects system was discussed, and it was generally agreed that there are quite a lot of people in the U8th at the moment are prefects, but may that's a good thing. Should they have different 'teachers' lunches, or different ties? It was realised however that the teahcers' lunches aren't in fact desperately different to the Student lunches, and the more Students taken off the main queue, the better. The lunch is also a kindn of incentive to become a Prefect. Are we making mountains out of mole hills here, though? It will be brought up next week. Big discussion.
- The idea of the ability to go to lunch early if one has a free period in 5 was discussed. But unfortunately, itn may take a lot of fighting to get, as many might abuse the system. One would need some sort of list and a member of staff to monitor these things, which is again another effort.
- The Council has decided to have a Student Council Assembly, in which the junior Assemblies will be essentially a Q+A session with members of the Council. We shall start with the 6th Form.
