    Minutes 28/9/11

    Recap. on last week:

    ·      IT – new Windows 7 system is too slow starting up. IT department have been contacted, and say that they are changing things – as the year progresses the start-up should get slightly faster.

    ·      Use of atrium as a room to be booked for advertisements from societies and other such things – it should become available over the next few weeks. Surmaster likes the idea.

    ·      Colours for sport, drama etc aren’t made a big enough deal about, although it was decided that the “low key” aspect of the colours / tie system is quite nice. Ultimately, it is the teachers’ choice to give them to whomsoever they please.

    ·      Student Parking – strong argument against, as the local council would need to be involved, too complicated – they even want the reduction of staff drivers, so getting permits for students would be nigh on impossible.

    This Week:

    ·      Jeans for “Jeans Day” i.e. all pupils allowed to wear jeans on Jeans Day? We already have mufti days once a term, so this would need to be referred to Mr. Davies / the Charities Committee.

    ·      Boxing bags in the gym – boxing bags in the gym have been broken, perhaps they need replacing. Mr. Blurton must be consulted with this matter.

    ·      The Council discussed the matter of the emptiness of various alcoholic hand gel dispensers around the school. This is a matter concerned with Mr. Imrie, and should be discussed with him.

    ·      The presence of a change machine in the lunch hall / tuck shop was discussed, as many who have big notes (£20 / £10) have to wait for the cashiers to have enough change. It was decided that the machines were somewhat unnecessary, but that perhaps the cash tills could have some change inside them at the start of the day. Speaking to catering staff would be necessary in this instance.

    ·      An issue with lunch-time was brought up with regards to a lack of sufficient food and staff for those boys coming in to have lunch from sport (rugby, rowing) at around 1:50pm – 2:00pm. This will be discussed again.

    ·      An idea that arose was the presence of some sort of button system at St. Hilda’s gate on the St. Paul’s side for those who don’t have key FOB’s on them, a major inconvenience when at school late in the day. The problem with this would be that people might be crafty and reach through the gate with a long stick and press the button without having to use a FOB. It is therefore a security involved issue. The presence of a plastic flap covering the button was discussed, as that way Paulines would merely need to lift the flap up to get out, and it would be difficult to get in. This idea might be shot down however by the argument in favour of acquiring a FOB, which would seem the cheapest and easiest solution. The presence of a FOB station at the Hammersmith Bridge gate was also put forward, but this would be impossible due to the distance away from the school and the electrical inconveniences.
