Vs

St Paul's School Rugby Fives Club

SENIOR / JUNIOR HALF GAMES

ALL boys who play Fives as their half should note the following:

1. You should own your own fives gloves , and bring them to each session. (They are available from the school shop or if the shop has sold out, contact Mr Roberts, Head of Fives).  If you decide at the end of the term that you do not want to continue playing fives, then you will be able to sell your used gloves back to the school - speak to Mr Roberts about this.

2. You may use the courts during lunch breaks or after school.  Check the fives notice board for details of when supervised practice sessions will be taking place.  If you want to play regularly outside these times, you will need to borrow a ball from Mr Roberts - the school shop does not sell them currently.

3. During the Spring term, 4th formers on the games half will be allocated practice times each Weds - timings on the notice board.

If you are unable to play when listed to do so, please contact your coach, preferably during the morning break.  Don't just fail to turn up.

4. Dress on Court:

  • White school sports shirt, Club vest or plain tee-shirt
  • plain white or dark P.E. or rugby shorts; track-suit trousers may be worn, but like rugby shirts may prove too warm!
  • Trainers, games socks

5. Behaviour on court

a.  no audible obscenities

b.  admit if your own shot is "not up" i.e. follows a double bounce

c.  ask for a "let" for obstruction only if you are sure you could have reached the shot.

d.  assume your opponent adheres to (c.) above and therefore don't deny him the "let".

e.  always call the score clearly after every rally.
