Minutes of the Student Council meeting 13/1/03

In attendance: Ben Coffer, Jamie Cordes, Jack Furniss, Charlie Henniker, Ramsey Jouzy, Al Morante, Ed Zinkin, Hussain Basheer, Phil Clausen-Thue, Hugh Gifford, Andrew Granger, Robert Habib, Daniel Marmot, Adam O’Boyle, Charlie Thompson, Ben Reizenstein, BJOK, JMcL

Security: The council was asked to discuss possible security measures to help prevent the recent cases of theft of teacher’s laptops.  Suggestions of identification cards or fobs to be used at the entrance gates were widely rejected by the council.  Other suggestions included emphasising and enforcing security measures which are already in place, and also for teachers to have lockers to store valuables.

Carrels: After discussion with the Surmaster, the council is proposing to open up the carrels off of the economics corridor on the second floor to create an upper and lower eighth study area.  There is also a possibility in creating more space for carrels in the classics corridor, adjacent to the carrels which already exist there.

Prefects: The council will enter into final discussion and will aim to arrive at a proposal for reforming the prefect system in the near future
