Noticeboard

The council now has its own noticeboard, which will be set up shortly.  It is located in the junior tuckshop.

Maths GCSE

The council discussed the issue of the Maths GCSE being taken in the 6th form, and suggested that instead of studying Pure 1 in the 6th form, those who are able to take Maths in the 5th form could be given an option of studying something else. However, nothing it was undecided as to whether this would be beneficial, or indeed whether the current situation needed attention.  To follow up this issue, Adam O’Boyle will speak to Mr Bradley.

L8th Private Study

The council discussed whether or not the system of L8th private study was effective, and whether or not a better solution could be reached.  Several ideas were raised, such as sharing carrels so L8ths could use them for private study.  Also as a long term solution, the council will suggest to the Working Party that a L8th common room be built.

Lates Detentions

The council discussed the nature of lates detentions, and whether or not they were an effective solution to the problem of those arriving late at school. While it was felt that 8th formers were unlikely to be dissuaded from lateness by the threat of detention (as evidenced by the significant number currently arriving late), it was acknowledged that some form of enforcement is probably required. Suggestions on this are welcome.

Club Music

Further to last week’s discussion, we welcome the news that a club music event is in the pipeline.
