Student Council Minutes - 15/01/07
Absent: Quite a lot of people. Oscar and Matt turned up though.
The Council is happy that Tom will be devoting his Prefect Assembly this Friday to promoting the Student Council.
This has been timed to coincide with next week's 'Soapbox' session which the Council is looking forward to.
Minor Issues:
The Council wandered whether the fob system had been modified to allow U8ths out from 2.15. This shall be experimented with.
Members asked whether a fob gate can also be installed on the bridge gate. Barr will find out.
Clocks have still not been installed in the changing rooms. In the hope of the issue being resolved in time for the London Olympics, Barr will pursue the matter.
The Council decided to discuss some more major issues:
The Council will debate the implications of the school's professed policy of 'needs blind entry'. Initially the following issues were raised:
How will non-prep school pupils be taught Latin and Greek before entering St Paul's; will needs blind entry affect the curricula in the junior school; in general, how can the issue of primary schools ending in year 6 but St Paul's not starting for 2 more years be resolved.
Michael will try to get someone from senior management or the shadowy 'working party' to come and talk to us about the issues.
Barr proposed discussing co-education at St Paul's. Most people were little interested.
