Detention!: We will review the issue of how detentions should work for the 8th Former.
Citizenship: PSE/Divinity, taught to Juniors, is to be replaced by Citizenship lessons. Miss Ball is masterminding this change. The Council is exploring the ‘syllabus’ that should be taught, and questions which ages should be taught what. Certainly more lessons need to be set aside for it to be effective. Drug education and current affairs are issues the Council would like to see more of.
Prefects: It appears there are much fewer prefects in the Council this year (so far only 2/10 compared to 8/10 last year). Perhaps this is an opportunity for the Council to make changes to prefects more easily. The Council thinks that prefects result in an unnecessary stratification of the U8th Form(!) AGW announced that prefects are chosen almost entirely on the number of Paulines, teachers etc who support them. Their role in St Paul’s is still being debated…
To continue this discussion, Councillors are asked to discover the equivalent systems in other schools.
