‘Buddy System’
Following the past week’s discussion of the bullying policy, Ben Reizenstein came up with the idea of a 'buddy system' where senior students are matched up to juniors and act as a mentor. This would not only make 4th formers feel more welcome but would also encourage responsibility in seniors. The presence of such a system would turn the school into more of a community. As well as this, a 'buddy system' would help deal with bullying. An 8th former could have a quiet chat with a bully or his 'buddy' in order to solve problems in a low-key and relatively non-confrontational fashion. Such a system does exist in some tutor sets, but it was agreed that practice varies from tutor group to tutor group. Charlie Thompson and Adam O'Boyle will suggest this system to the High Master.
