Student Council Minutes - 03/10/05
1. Fizzy Drinks
· The Council welcomed the fact that a committee including representatives from Sodexho, the Staff, the Parents, the Student Council and the Boarding House is to be set up to specifically address food and drink issues, related to health problems.
· It was concluded by a 100% vote of the SC that the sale should not be banned and that the onus was on the students alone, as long as healthier options were sold in conjunction.
· It was felt that if a ban were imposed (making the school feel that they would no longer be encouraging consumption) fizzy drinks would be brought in from outside of the premises, and so consumption would only be lowered slightly.
· ACTION: The manager of Sodexho to be invited to a future meeting to discuss more thoroughly
2. 6th Form Forum
· It was felt that the 6th Form Forum was a productive idea, that many of the ideas which they had were constructive, and that it was effective preparation for and insight into the the SC.
· It was suggested that (as has happened in the past) a member of the 6th Form Forum should sit on the SC each week.
· ACTION: Hugh Gillum to confer with Mr Jaine and the 6th Form Forum about these possibilities.
3. Showers
· It was believed that shower curtains or doors were needed with immediate effect and there was much confusion as to why they had been excluded from the redesigning of the changing room facilities.
· It was felt that many opted to avoid the showers due directly to the lack of privacy.
· Suggestions arose that doors or curtains should be placed on the showers
· ACTION: Gonzalo Garcia to speak to Mr Imry, Head of the School’s Engineering Dept. proposing the installation of curtains or doors.
4. Future Ideas
