Student Council Minutes - 10/10/05
1. Late System
· The late system is perceived by some as unfair in many ways as there is no regard for the failure of the public transport system and that pupils affected by these problems had similar punishments to those who woke up late but lived next to school.
· It was brought to the Council’s attention that at SPGS there was no official detention system.
· It was believed unanimously that more research needed to be carried out.
· It was also agreed that discussion of Lates should be kept separate from the “necessity to be in School at all times” issue.
· ACTION: Research to be carried out and forwarded to Ben Gray
o Ben Gray: SPGS,
o Ben Lloyd-Hughes: Godolphin
o Stephan Trasyvoulou:
2. Joint Societies with SPGS
· Special mention was given to Jonathon Edwards who successfully set up a philosophy society with the girl’s school. Currently Oxbridge English is also held with the girls’ school.
· Currently the only mix with SPGS is in the form of plays, parties, John Colet Day and important speakers.
· However, it was felt that the pupils should be first to take the initiative and set up their own societies.
