1. Welcoming

·        After a successful election all new members of the Student Council were present

·        The 3-strike policy was formally initiated and the new members informed of previous attendance problems leading to this decision.

·        There was a short introduction to advisors, BJO'K and JMcL, and their role in supporting the Council

2. Fizzy Drinks

·        Discussion was initiated through concerns by members of staff on the health and concentration effects of fizzy drinks, and through a suggestion that the sale of them at SPS should be banned.

·        It was felt that the issue  should be discussed more fully at a future meeting

3. Chris King

·        There was an unannounced visit by veteran member Chris King to the meeting

·        In his 1-minute cameo appearance, to much applause, pushed further for an Astroturf to be built at SPS

·        His idea will be discussed at a later date.

4. Student Council Minutes

·        Information was requested about the circulation of the minutes.

·        It was clarified by the Advisors that they were given to all members of the management of the school, including the Highmaster and Surmaster and a copy was placed in the Common Room for the information of the staff.

·        There was some concern expressed  that, whilst the staff  were allowed to see the minutes of the Student Council, the Council was unable to see the minutes of their meetings.

5. Showers

·        It was suggested that doors or curtains  should be placed on the changing room showers to create more privacy. It was felt that many opted to avoid the showers because of a  lack of privacy

ACTION: Gonzalo Garcia to speak to Mr Imrie, Operations Director at SPS ,and discuss the options available to the school and question why curtains or doors were not installed when the changing rooms were remodelled
