Minutes 21/3/12

Absent: Leo, Hugo, Osbert, Richard, Thomas

Recap. from last week:

  • Ed spoke to Mr. Jaine about prospectuses, who thinks that it is a good idea. Zain to speak to Mr. Jaine, and the handout would have to be clean, a formal document, like "Insiders Guide".
  • The Censorship of B+W was discussed.

This Week:

  • The Tuck Shop was discussed, and the question as to whether the contract had been renewed was posed.
  • Photocopier in the Common Room - now works.
  • Black and White was discussed at length. It is the only magazine with a Censorship Committee, and it could be argued that of late it has been badly written and has become like a "Pauline" more than a student body magazine. They haven't got many writers, and many people view it as a vehicle for becoming a Prefect / UCAS points. We asked whether it should be shut down and start anew. Perhaps underground magazines should be started, a rival publication that is that bit more edgy. We don't know where B+W is going, and perhaps we should find 6th Formers to make a another magazine, and then take to a master-in-charge for checking its political correctness. There should be more responsibility associated with this task.
